What is the Age Requirement for hiring a car?
The minimum driver age is 22, with 2 years of driving experience. The driver must have a valid license that corresponds to the class of the car you wish to hire.
Do you provide the Pick-up and Drop-off?
Yes, we do arrange to pick up and drop off at the airport, accommodation, and anywhere you would wish. The difference is that pick up and drop off at the Airport in Entebbe, Kampala is free of charge, and those who want the car to be delivered to are certain location 30 km, are to meet the charges depending on your location and the type of car to be delivered.
Please, we would appreciate it very much if you could let us know your pickup and drop-off point in advance.
Do You Offer after-hours car hire in Uganda, Pickups and drop-offs?
Yes, based on the preceding agreement and arrangement. Please, for after-hours pick-ups and drop-offs, you should let us know in advance at least a day before. This is all at a free cost.
Is there a Charge for Additional Drivers?
No, at Budget Car Rental Uganda, we do not charge for multiple or additional drivers. Upon pick up of the car, you can register as many drivers to the rental agreement at no cost. We give our clients the option of sharing the experience of driving on Ugandan Roads.
Please note, this is for only those with a valid driver’s license, and it has to be with at least 2 years of driving experience.
Can I Pay for the Car Rental With a Credit Card?
Yes. At Budget Car Rental Uganda, we accept Visa, Master Card, and American Express, but this calls for a surcharge of 5% of the total amount of money you are paying.
Please note, if you want to pay with a bank transfer(wire), you have to pay at least a week before the pickup date.
Can I Pay Cash for my Car Rental?
Yes, you can pay cash for your car rental. Please, a full cash payment will be made upon pickup of the car.
Can We Cross Borders with a Rental Car?
Yes, you can cross borders with a rental car from Uganda to the neighboring countries of Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Please, you should inform us upon booking so that we can arrange for you the necessary paperwork needed to cross borders, and we advise on the rates of driving the car in a foreign land/country.
Can We Extend Our Rental Period in Case We Need to?
Yes, you can extend your rental period in case you need to. This is subject to vehicle availability, and this has to be informed to us at least 2 days before.
Do You Offer Diesel Vehicles?
Yes, we do offer both petrol and diesel-powered engines. This is subject to availability and request by a client.
Can I rent a vehicle on Sunday?
Yes, you can hire a car on any day of the week. We work 24 hours / 7 days a week. But if you want to talk to our reservations, it is better to use WhatsApp or call +256789292222 so that you are attended to fast and quickly, since the office closes on Sunday. Although you will still receive the service as desired, and perfect.
Do you charge a cleaning Fee if the Car is not Returned clean?
No, we do not charge for returning uncleaned car rentals. We have a team that can clean the cars at our workshop, so don’t be scared when you return the car unwashed.
Do you do One-way Car rentals?
Yes, at Budget Car Rental Uganda, we do offer one-way rentals. However, this will call for a fee advised by our reservations, depending on where the rental Starts or Ends.
Do I get a refund for returning the car early?
No, we do not refund for unused days. The best way is to pay for fewer days, If you still want to explore the country, you can extend and pay for the extended days at drop-off.
Is Fuel Included?
No, fuel is not included in the rental fees. Please note, the way you get the car fueled is the way you return it. For instance, we always offer our cars at a quarter tank and return them the same way. We do not pay for unused fuel, but you pay if the car is not at a quarter tank.
What are the Documents required when collecting the Car Rental?
The driver/s of the car will have to present a copy of a valid driver’s license corresponding to the class of the car they are hiring, and a passport or National ID.
What happens if I get involved in an accident, my car breaks down, or if I need assistance?
When the car breaks down, just call or text the provided phone numbers, which at 24/7 online, and our staff will attend to you accordingly. We will connect you with a possible nearby mechanic to examine the car and fix it in the shortest period possible. In case the car breaks down and it can not be repaired, you are subject to a replacement.
For those involved in an accident, you will have to call the police at 999 first, and call us, and we will let you know how to handle the situation. If the situation is tough and it can’t be resolved in a few hours, we send our company representative to handle the case. After the accident, you will be subjected to a driver at USD40/day for the rest of your trip.
Can I Use My Country’s Driver’s License?
Yes, your country’s driver’s license can be used in Uganda for a period of 3 months. On the other hand, for those whose licenses are not printed in English, you might need to get an international driver’s license.
